Anyone here a kite flyer?  I'm not.  But the International Kite Festival will be starting on Monday, running through Sunday.  It's kind of fun to go down there and wander around.  Amazing to see what some of those big kites can do.

Not I, but I love to see them flying. You sure do have a nice festival for a teeny little town.

Ahhhhh..... the good life!
I've got a couple dozen kites and when hubby is down have a couple of favorites that I fly from the back of the boat where one can be assured of a wind to lift them.
We used to go down to the lakefront in Chicago at least a couple times a month where there is always a breeze and few kite eating trees to contend with. Until last year, I always kept at least one kite in the trunk of the car. We don't have the open spaces around this lake though that we can go to in order to fly... and I can't drive a boat and fly a kite at the same time....

Sherri, we were always amazed at how much the festival changed that little town over the week long celebration!  Our family usually made it every year!  Haven't attended in a long time!  I really do miss the Long Beach beaches.......very pretty!!

Oh, gosh!  How fun!!! We used to get together with my sisters at someplace in Oregon for the kite festival and quilt show there...Maybe it was Brookings, Oregon.

We always had fun and while the ladies were at the quilt shows the men would go crabbing.  Lots of fun and laughter when we were all together.

Aren't you amazed by all the different shapes for the kites?!?!?

Di

I have not flown a kite in a long time.  We used to have fun with that when I was a teen up in western NY, near Niagara Falls.  Good breezes there most of the time.

Those kites are neat.  I have not seen ones like the giant tires/ cheerios.

Speaking of cheeries (totally OT now)-  I was recently in one of those little pizza/ salad buffet type places and near the salad bar toppings they had small containers of cheerios- with a sign that said they were for 'your little ones' .  Cute.

That was kinda of humorous to me because just two weeks prior to that, as I slid into a booth at an Italian restaurant, I commented to Tom that there must have been a family w/ toddlers sitting there earlier.  He asked how I knew & I said:  cuz there are a few cheerios on the floor !

RAL, I get a chuckle out of the way your replies cover the topic, and then always travel off onto something entirely unrelated.  We think alike
