I know that a lot of us have experienced the dreaded bleeding toenail from cutting a bit too close to the quick. I don't like the quick stop and you should never use that on anything other than a toenail because it burns the skin and makes the wound worse.

I use a mixture of flour and aloe vera, as the aloe vera helps to coagulate the blood much faster and helps it to adhere to right to the nail.  For more reading on the properties of aloe vera you can visit this page.

Some of the ideas such as aloe vera detox and use on feathers should be checked out with your veterinarian before trying Nan

I usually use cornstarch as it clumps a bit faster.
I had a doc suggest I drink Aloe Vera after getting home and recoup'ing... to benefit the system....
Oh the taste!!!!!!!! I couldn't do it........
That site has so many great suggestions as does most of her articles.......
Thanks for sharing..... Too2

Hey Too, have you tried the George's distilled aloe juice?  It looks just like water and I just tasted it--tastes like water too.  They've got a website you can look at, if you're interested.  That's the stuff I spray on Morgan for her itchies.

I use the cornstarch also, but I also had an incident where I cut a gouldian finch's nail and it started bleeding--couldn't find the corn starch and as a last resort stuck the little one's whole foot in my sugar bowl.  Not that I use much granulated sugar except for holiday baking so it was probably due to be tossed out anyway.  Bit unusual, but it did work.
