I've been making toys for the birsy gang for a while now. It's cheaper than spending $$$ at the pet stores. When I can get to a bird fair they are cheaper but still making them is less pricey and I've been enjoying it. Plus if you know your birds well you know what kind of toys they really enjoy.

If you're wanting to dye a bunch of toys parts at once ,put some of your food dye in a zip lock bag, throw in the parts and shake. It coats the parts and you don't have to spend a lot of time using a brush on them. After you have dyed them to your satisfaction unzip the bag and pour the excess dye back into it's bottle.

You know those little spice racks that come on a lazy susan? I never used mine and decided to put the food dye in the little spice bottles. I refrigerate the dye when I 'm not using it, but the rack makes it easy to store everything while you are working.
Nan

Uhhhhh ... Nanners, while you're making toys for the birsy gang, why don't you make a few for the birdy gang as well???

Actually, that's a really clever idea ... the ziploc thing I mean. Much less messy than painting with such thin medium, as well as being a lot faster!

I'm going to try it next time I make toy for MY birsy gang!

Abby

oooohhhhhh Abbbbbbyyy????  That's what this little dog thinks of your proof reading skills hehehehehe

I use a couple of different types of dyes. One is made from cake decorating tube frosting, and they do say to refrigerate it. I'll get the recipe for you guys.

I  like that idea Nan.
I have some  plastic bowls with lids that I have been using and then stack them in the back of the fridge for the next time. I really only use 3 colours but the zip locks bags will give me more of a variety of colours......
The pieces I cut are quite large and then gone in one day with those large beaks around here...... Too2
