While cliches are true for a reason just because some amazons behave in certain way, doesn't mean they all do. Bogie my DYH will pin his eyes and fan his tail out, but in his case it means he is having a good time and I can scritch him. Olivia can do that in the exact same manner there is a chomp just waiting it happen. The lesson here is to not only know a species body language, but YOUR birds body language.

NEVER bend over near a Macaws cage. Just don't,ok?

When someone tells you that a bird only likes men or women, don't let that color how you will interact with the bird. Some birds just wait until their right person comes along, and it could be you.

Never tell a dirty joke or use a phrase you wouldn't say in church within a parrot's hearing. He may never  learn to say I can Talk can you fly, but he will learn that naughty word and it will come back to haunt you!

More hard learned lessons later. Do you have any of your own to add??? Nan

About that I can talk thing you mentioned.....every morning after breakkie as Don's eyes drift closed Twiggy yells at him *Donald,Can you talk?*  If I'm still in the bedroom I can hear his teeth grinding and gnashing.....I know he dreads the day he ever asked her that, because she never lets him grab a cat-nap in the morning anymore.  Mmmwwwaahhahaha.di
