I noticed that Dolly had chewed through his rope perch, but that one end looked like a grooming toy! I snipped off the remaining end, and made a loop in it, securing it with some colored sisal rope. I then tied a knot in it and left the frayed ends for Dolly to chew on to his hearts content! BTW the rope looked a lot better 24 hours ago, so Dolly has been working it over.
Also save the plastic ends to the perches. There is a neat acrylic crock called smart crocks for water. I use them in all my bird cages. The end fasteners fit the crock ends. I'm assuming one of the rope perch companies made these as well. Jack has one he uses for bathing!

I'm enclosing pictures so you get the idea! First up the remains of the rope perch!

I won't make the claim that these are macaw proof , but it took Mojo 2 years to kill one!

Hope these tips help!

Are you bleeding again, Nan? Kidding!! I like those crocks. Haven't seen those. I have some weird kidney shaped ones that attach similarly but I don't like the shape. Too narrow in the middle of the kidney and too deep.

tiki has a rope perch in his cage and it is slowly falling to pieces cause he tears it up. That is a good idea though.
