Hi Filarks! I remember you, only you were simply Filark at that time. You'll have to bring us up to date on you and your household since we last saw you, in 2002.

Are you still in Oregon? I think you had some tiels and a conure of some kind? Maybe a green cheek?

I have moved since you were here. I'm now near Victoria on Vancouver Island. I share my home with four birds now. Basil - Indian Ringneck (she's been with me for almost 7 years), Pepper - Cockatiel (he has been with me for 6 years now), Sage - White-Eared Conure (she is new since you were here, as she came 3-1/2 years ago), and Beau - Hahns Macaw (she is new to you too, as she came to me at Christmas, 4 years ago).

Looking forward to hearing all about you and your birds, Keith, and hopefully seeing some pictures?

Again, welcome back to The Nest!

Abby

Hi all,
A lot has changed since I have been here. We had a tragedy in our home and we lost all of our fids. A pot was forgotten and allowed to boil dry and the smoke and fumes took all our fids. They died in our hands. It was very hard to deal with because these were my "children" even if they were bonded to my wife or daughter. That was 5-6 yrs ago. I have missed them greatly and have often told stories about them and the memories I have of them.
Since then, We have moved to Lubbock, TX. My father-in-law is doing poorly and we needed to be here with him. It was a big move for us. We are doing well. My daughter is graduating from high school this year and is going to college this coming fall.
The only addition we have is a "Princess of Wales" parrot. She is the native green with the red throat and lavender on the head. She is very pretty. Her name is "Fancy." Her owner did not want to get rid of her but had fallen on hard times. so she sold Fancy to us. She will take some time to get to know us and we are patient. We just picked her up today. We bought her a larger cage and had been on a seed only diet.
I will post pics very soon.

God Bless,
Keith

Keith, I'm really sorry about the tragic loss of your fids. I can't even imagine how devastating that must have been.

That was quite a move, from Oregon to Texas. I understand about moving to be closer to aging parents, as that is why I moved over here to Vancouver Island. Mom and Dad are now 86 and 84 respectively, and their health is fragile.

I'm really interesting in hearing about your Princess of Wales! I have never known anyone with one before. I'll look forward to seeing pictures, and to hearing all the stories as you all get to know Fancy, and Fancy you.

Cheers!
Abby

I am so sorry Keith and their loss changes our lives forever...
I'm glad you found your way back here and if it doesn't cause too much distress we'd love to hear you tell stories of those that perished...
Thank God for memories, even though some are the hurting kind.
Been there and done that with the "accident" and time heals but when we do remember it doesn't stop the fresh hurt of remembering....

Oh Keith, I am so very sorry. It is heartbreaking to lose just one. I can only imagine how you felt over losing several at once.
That happened to a friend of mine several years ago. She lost about 20 birds at once including neonates. All due to a pot boiling dry.

Blessings to your father-in-law. I hope he improves.
Annie
