Hi, My cocktiel's name is Robin...no joke..I named her/him after my friend (robin) who is a guy...but if Robin (bird) turns out to be a girl, I've still got it covered robin is grey with white tipped wings and orange cheeks... A little neighbor boy came to the door and asked us if we wanted to buy a bird,,,said his mom wouldn't let him keep it.....for $30 we told him sure and the little darling ran back to tell his mom....I don't think they knew anymore about birds than we do...but I'm willing to learn...robin was still in a small carrying cage so we built him a large one..very large...I'm hoping I can learn a lot from here about how to take care of Robin Flesea ps...I have bad eyes so I can't see to read small posts so please forgive me if I can't read too many at a time, thanks |

Welcome Flesea and Robin. Did the boy bring food for the bird. What kind is it? Do you want suggestions on a good diet for him? We are always so happy to help when members want it. Please tell us what font size is comfortable for you. We want you happy here. Annie |

Flesea! I'm glad to see you made it here ok. I'm looking forward to hearing all about Robin. We'd love a chance of see pictures too. Please don't be shy and if you have any questions at all, feel free to ask. We were all new to birds once too. What color is Robin, and how old is he/she? We have many good people here who are more than willing to help, and many are or have been 'tiel owners. Of my 24 birds, 20 are cockatiels, so as you might guess, I have a soft spot for them! |

Welcome to The Nest, Flesea and Robin! Robin is a great name for your new feathered friend, Flesea! Your description of Robin sounds like my Pepper tiel. He is now 7 years old, and has been with me since he was 9 months old. He is my second cockatiel, as I had a female Lutino for 17 years, and I still miss her! I also share my home with Basil - female Indian Ringneck (8 years), Sage - female White-Eared Conure (5 years) and Beau - female Hahns Macaw (11 years). We in Brentwood Bay, British Columbia, on Vancouver Island. Flesea, on the bottom right corner of your explorer windows you will see a + in a manifying glass next to 100%. If you click on the magnifying glass, it will magnify the text to 100%, and if you click again, to 150%. Click a third time, and it goes back to 100%. If you click on the little down arrow to the right of 100%, a menu opens that gives you several other options. To the right you'll see a cropped screenshot of this reply window. As you can see you can select all the way up to 400% magnification. Or, if that isn't enough, you can click on Custom at the bottom, and type in anything you want. I just tried it at 600%. I'm not sure how high you could go with it. I hope this helps you see our posts! | | I'm really glad you found us, Flesea, and I'm looking forward to hearing all about Robin as you get to know him! What browser program are you using then, Flesea? I've been using Explorer for many years, but I also have always used a good Anti-Virus program. At the moment I use the full version of AVG, which includes Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Anti-Rootkit, Email scanner, linkScanner, Web Shield, Resident Shield. I'm afraid that I haven't used anything but Windows Internet Explorer that I have no idea what any other versions have. However, if I knew what yours is, I could find out more about it. Are you using a PC or a Mac? In the control panel of the PC, you can set your monitor to have much larger type. My father has poor eyesight, and has his magnified so that it is huge! If you are using a PC with Windows, I can tell you how to set that up. Please let me know if I can help you at all, Flesea. If I don't know something, I have access to our computer techs at work. Flesea welcome to BirdBrainz!! If you have a mouse with a scroller, and a control key on your keypad, you can depress the control key while scrolling ( up for larger font, down for smaller font). I hope that is clear enough and works for you - it is what I do and is a snap to do when needed. Breezee |
