Hi Addie, A Budgerigar is a type of parakeet. A parakeet is a small parrot with a long tail. If you look up Quaker Parakeet, Indian Ringneck parakeet, etc, you'll see what I mean. Just like a Lorikeet is a Lory with a long tail. Just to add to the confusion, all parakeets are parrots. Zoomom

The parakeets your talking about (I think) are budgies. Parakeet is many many types of parrots, but the pet stores sell Budgies as parakeets. The little cute ones that are very common and are blue with white faces, or green with yellow faces, and they have the black markings on the wings???? Do I make ANY sense at all? |
