Anyone out there have Red Rump Parakeets??   I have looked them up on the web but cannot find a good picture or discription.  Mostly breeders trying to sell.  Are they larger than regular Keets?   Very noisey?  What kind of personality?
Read about a couple that need a home, but like to do some investigation into a breed before I go see them.  Because if I see them and feel sorry for them well, you know what will happen.........

I don't have one but was tempted years ago.  My cousin said they whistle a beautiful song.
Here's the pic and description from Lexicon of Parrots.  Pic could be better.

Judy,
I took in a pair of Red Rumps as rescues back a couple of weeks ago that I found a wonderful home for. Yes they are very sweet and do sing a beautiful son. They are not noisy by any means. Here is a picture I took of them.

How large are they?  Much larger than a keet or a teil?

Red Rumps are the same size as a regular Parakeet.

Lexicon said they are about 10.5 inches, that sounded a little larger than the regular keets I am used to.  O well, doesn't really matter.  I will see them on the 14th of Aug. I'll let you know what happens.
Amy that is a good picture, most of the ones I found on the web were very poor.   I did find one ad that had all colors, even splits and blues, there were some really pretty ones.  I would imagine these are the so called normals.
If I get them I will post a picture.  Thanks for all your input.
Judy
