Hi everyone, I went to this new place that sells bird houses, cages and bird food for wild and pet birds. Nice place. We got talking of course of all our birds and she gave me a name of a lovebird breeder-handfed. Of course you all know I miss my cleo and bought a baby parakeet cause I couldnt find a good lovebird. So.... of course I am thinking call this breeder. My husbanc of course says no. I was thinking, has anyone here had a parakeet and a lovebird. Were they friends? I know they shouldnt be housed together cause the lovebird can get mean. What if they were still babies and housed together?. My parakeet only 2 mos old now. I do have another cage for them that I could seperate at first but thought I would get all your opionions on mixing them. I know you all will probably say seperate them but thought I would ask anyways.
Our old parakeet use to play with our Mitrid Conure - they were lets say In Love with each other kissing all the time. So i know the parakeet would be ok but not sure about the lovebird. MY cleo was only a little over 2 yrs old when we lost him.
Again, thinking of another bird - Oh my! Patti |

I think handfed lovies make to greatest pets. I had one named Bozo for years. They might be able to interact when out of the cage, under supervision, but I would not cage them together. Hope you have good luck in finding another lovie. Peggy |

We talked again today about it. Husband says ok to call and we would definitely keep seperated. Not sure if I am going to get one though, such a hard decision. I love all the birds so I still need to decide for a while. Thanks. Patti |

Patti, We have been hunting you. I couldn't remember who Cleo's Mom was. Someone in Illinois has a lovie flying with sparrows in her yard and eating at her table. Is IL far from you? She said she hasn't been able to capture him or her yet. The lady who told us is on another group but I can tell her who you are now, if it is even possible this bird could be Cleo. Annie |

Annie, Probably not my Lovie. I am in Central New York and Cleo has been gone since May. I dont think he could of possibly flow to IL. I would think that it would be to far for such a small bird - any bird. Thanks for thinking of me. We miss our cleo so much that sometimes we think we still hear him in the trees behind our house. I call my parakeet Tiki - but sometimes I forget and Cleo comes out of my mouth :( I only had him for alittle over 2 years but it still hurts - I was so stupid and this is probably why I am still upset over it. I couldn't remember where you lived. I agree, it is not possible that this little guy could be Cleo. She said he is a peach faced and your pic of Cleo looks like a different mutation. You must try to forgive yourself. I understand the hurt, but allow yourself to heal now. Bless you. Annie |
