They're SO cute! I have a question. I notice the dried up raisin cere on that top picture. Both of my little budgies that are living with my dad have that. WHAT THE.....? What is with that? I called my avian vet last time I saw them and she said it was hormones?? Is it a boy thing? I think both mine are boys but it's hard to tell because they're cere is always all wrinkled and brown. |

Hi Tiva, Just sitting back down after falling off my chair with laughter at your description "Dried Up Rasin." It says it all and is beautifully accurate . As far as I know the cere get's dark like that when the females are in season and are ready to do the "Wild Thing" I would say if your budgies cere is dark brown like mine that they are females but don't quote me I'm no expert. When they are out of season or when they have a bath sometimes it flakes off to reveal a lighter tan coloured cere. Here's a picture of one of my other females she is called Joette (Joey in the background) and yes she is huge but don't tell her to her face |

Hi, Yeah the brown cere means female budgie. Only in albino budgies this maybe hard to tell as some dont get any colours males or females. I have 4 females and they all have the brown cere and I have 2 males which have the blue cere. |

Well the thing that is confusing me about it is that they both had blue ceres before. They were just babies tho and I know the color can change. So even tho they USED to be blue...the brown 'raisin' means female? My gosh Joette IS huge! What a beauty. |
