We have decided to get a meyers parrot. I have had an empty cage sitting in my bird room and it has been driving me crazy so Doug decided to let me put a new bird in it. Today we picked out the sweetest meyers parrot. He/she will be called Rio. Out of curiosity we will be doing a DNA soon. We will be bringing Rio home in about 2 weeks and I can't wait. I have started setting the cage up with some of the things we already have, just need a few more toys and one more bowl. Are there any good websites that I can go to. All the ones I have found don't give much information or pictures. I want to learn every thing I can before Rio comes home.

Have you found this page? It is hard to read because of the spacing but you can copy it to notepad and fix the text and spacing so it's easier.

Awww, what an adorable baby. His color is beautiful. Is he a mutation? He looks aqua on my screen.

I have seen on the internet that there are 4 different color variations. They either have green on the breast area or teal. Rio is the teal color. That is part of why my husband is letting get this little bird. He is a diehard dolphins fan and the teal is about the same color as the dolphins teal green. They are very colorfull because on the back under the wings is a very pretty bright blue. I went to spend time with Rio today and he/she started snuggling up to my neck. Rio is a very sweet little bird. Our friend moved Rio into a large flight cage just like what we have for him/her to start getting used to the space Rio will have. It is 3 times the size of the flights the weaning babies usually go in. I also put a tent in the cage so Rio could start getting used to it.

Congratulations! Great bird. The Princess of Chicken highly approves. He/she is gorgeous. Even after living with the Princess for almost twenty-eight years, I am still astonished at how many beautiful birds there are in the world. We are so lucky.

We Have Lelu.....she is way too sweet...and very brave & bold for a little bird!......But....in saying that, The only thing she gets pushy over is her food, tends to be grabby and snappy about it.....(loves to eat!)......other than that she is a doll.....She has this deep voice...mubbles a lot......seems like she is always working on her words.....although the vocab is limited
