Hey hello everyone. I was given Bubba. A senie. He is about six yrs old. According to his or hers last owner. My friend. Was going thru eviction and needed to place or give Bubba away. I stepped up to the plate. So, now I 've had Bubba for a year. He flew out of his cage once when I was feeding him/her. So I was thrilled when he flew to my shoulder.  All of sudden he was attacking my ears and my hand. I was so disatpointted and scared of Bubba. Even when I put in his veggies and apple in his tray...I have to poke the perched near him so as not to destroy my hand, Bubba senses my fear, I try to be strong and show him not otherwise. Since I am his secound owner I probaly will not give him away. I just let him be. I also have a gcc but I had Happy since he/she was a baby.  Bubba does talk says Hi Bubba when I feed in the morning. Also says Jessica my friend Karen's daughter the one who gave Bubba to me and Bubba loves when I sing Happy Birthday to you. That's all for now. There are pictures of Bubba under Senegal/Senies.

It's too bad that no one warned you that while Senegals can be as sweet as sugar one minute, they can be Rottweilers with feathers the next minute.  It's just the nature of the bird.  You will need to train Bubba to do the Step Up and Step Down command and gain some control over who is top bird in the flock.  Still, he/she will probably bite whenever he feels inclined.  My Sennie bites just because it's fun, I think.  I've learned to look for the signs that a bite is coming.  Saves a lot of skin.  Good luck with Bubba.  I think you'll learn to love the little guy!

Bubby is a pretty guy.
You better move him further away from those beautiful curtains or they won't be pretty much longer. Birds love to chew up curtains.

Your pics are nice but way too big. I bet you used up all of your free MSN picture space. Why don't you take them back into the pc and reduce them down to under 100 kb each. Sure would save you lots of space. You don't have to do this.  I'm just trying to help you with your available album space.

I used to have a sennie and he had been teased badly by a 3 year old. I never could calm him down. Poor little guy.
Annie

Thank you for your comment. Your message about Senies character is so funny and cute. I do talk to him and repeat words he say and I love him very much. Apprecited. Will write soon. Take care.

One of our members on here named goodbird has one of the sweetiest Sennies ever Her name is Annie and I am nuts about this bird. Give your Sennie more of a chance you might discover Bubba will be sweet too. I know it takes some birds a while to aapt to a new owner! Good luck. I love the name Bubba for a bird! Nan

BBS Liz hello
I've had Maxine my senie for 9 yrs. the only time she has ever bitten was due to illness/injury or a new bird coming into HER house (which is actually mine), however I had to have a friend watch her for almost a yr and she was with other birds and even made a friend of one of them (Gracie).  Has Bubba seen you giving attn (petting, preening, sweet talk, shoulder rides and the like)to your other bird for over a yr and You've not done it with him?  How on Earth would you feel if you moved and got treated that way?  It really is hard to introduce a new bird to The House, there's always a ruckus at first but everyone finds their place and calms down if all are treated equally. Bubba may never quit biting if he doesn't have a reason not to...love is always a good reason and they know when they're loved or when they're just being tolerated due to circumstance. Birds (all domesticated animals really) are like children, Bubba is a step child, who doesn't know where his mom & dad went or anything else that was familiar to him as a baby.  Treat him as such, you've already been given good advice by prior posters-all I can add is this 1) with biters use a wash cloth to cover them and prevent being bit, keep the cloth over them and hold them firm (not to tight, but secure) and treat them like your other bird- petting, preening, talking, etc. thru the cloth eventually the cloth will slide little by little and before u know it he will be fine without it and you can enjoy them together and they can enjoy each other...baby steps..consistant baby steps..  2) Is there dye in his food, this by some owners testimonies can turn any bird into a mood altering dingbat instead of a sweet bird.  My Maxie is the sweetest, but if I'm out of the house too long H2O gets slung evrywhere and she pitches a fit-but doesn't bite. 3) how do you discipline your birds?  I use a water bottle (small one for plants with adjustable nozel).  If you're scared of the cloth try this-using mist setting at 1st then stronger if needed (test on your face 1st though birds are tender and it doesn't take much) but be sure not in a cold setting! and teach the steps needed.  4) are u giving the bird tap h2o because the chlorine in it messes with their thyroid which causes some mood/behaviour problems...Max drinks distilled h2o from winn dixie even the fancy brands put the distilled h2o into the plastic jugs hot and then u can taste the plastic toxins emmitted by the jugs being heated.  that about sums it up for me and my wit n exp. Good Luck. let me know if Bubba turns into you're new best friend senie's are special ans most often sweet. Wynona101

Wynona some very good suggestion there though I don't discipline with water but rather with time out's ... either in here or in a back room as I have cages in a spare bedroom...
My son only gives them filtered water that he uses for his reef tank but I just don't have that sort of time especially when it is a slow process since the filtration system is hooked up to the utility sink tap...
I change water constantly, Too's have so much dust and dander that goes everywhere including the water bowls and I still use bowls for them... Too2

Is the original poster still here?  I have a whole bunch of questions and comments, but not going to get into them unless I know you're still around.
