hello i looked at pictures if the white eyed conure and my conure doesnt look any thing like them.i have a large book called parrots of the world and in it it says that the mitered has a gray eye ring.the lady i bought him from said that she wasnt really sure what he was. he has a good deal of red on his forehead.it comes down to his eyes but doesnt go below them.he has red on his wing tops and red on the tops of his legs.i may never know.he is a very sweet bird and has a good personality.he talks a little too.thanks judy norris

I know how you feel. There are so many different kinds of birds out there.When I adopted my bird from the shelter we thought it was a white eyed conure but after posting a pic someone showed us a pic of the hahns macaw. And thats what he is. Wish you could post a pic,Im sure someone could help.

Hi. . .The mitred that I had a few years back had a white eye ring, and red on head, wings and feet.  Here's a really good photo of a mitred that might help you identify or eliminate it as a possibility:

P. S.  I forgot to mention that those two photos show how different mitreds can be.  One has red on the wing and the other two don't seem to have any there.  That's what makes identifying conures so much fun!

Here's a link to the Lexicon of Parrots; Mitred Conure. If you look at the sub-species the Chapman's Mitred Conure  (#2)  says: "as mitrate, but generally with darker green and red plumage; red to head limited to forehead and lores." So maybe your bird is a Mitred.
