My neighbour has a cockatiel and a budgie, and a roommate who suffers from Fibromyalgia (spelling?). She got some 024 Pain Neutralizer, an over-the-counter medication, and it seemed to work very well for her, which was a blessing.

However, a few days after she started using the stuff, the tiel was lethargic, was losing his appetite, and just not doing well. His poops were not normal (hung from his butt), and he seemed to be having some respiratory distress. His owner was going through things that had changed in his environment, and thought of the O24. She asked her roommate to discontinue using it to see what happened. Within 24 hours the tiel was improving. It is now more than 48 hours since discontinuing the O24, and he is pretty much back to normal!

The ingredients listed for the 024 are all essential oils. As stated on their website, "All the ingredients are derived from the best-sourced botanicals on earth: camphor oil (white) (Japan), eucalyptus oil (Australia), aloe very oil (Mexico), peppermint oil (India), rosemary oil (Spain), lemon oil (USA) and orange oil (USA).

It is so easy to forget that essential oils are pure poison for our birds. For me, it is not a problem since I have allergies to essential oils, and therefore can't have them around me. But please remember to check for essential oils in health care products, cleaning products, scented candles, etc. The list goes on and on!

I'm just so relieved that this story has a happy ending, and that the tiel appears to be back to his old perky self.

Abby

They were so lucky to figure out what was causing the problem. So many people would never suspect something "all-natural" of being the culprit.
Glad that little fella survived and improved, and so quickly.
