One of the ways of dealing with a parrot that shows aggression, is to train him/her step up to a stick or perch. There are several sites that give advice on this.

Gentle Dominance is suggested in Parrot Parrot site.
I'll see if I can find some other sites that have more information on this subject.

The article Family pet information: how to train a cockatoo is at:
It describes, among other things, stick training. Although the information is directed to new cockatoo people, I think it relates to other parrots as well.

Both good articles and especially the Cockatoo one.....
When the large male here gets hormonal I use a stick to take him in and out........ He much prefers my arm but when hormones are raging he'll be "nice" but if another bird wants more of my attention then to him it's my fault.
He otherwise is a sweetheart and I know it hurts his feelings that I have the stick but a few blown kisses and he stops the pouting.......... Too2

I've noticed that there are birds who are flat out uneasy about the stick so I came up with my own method of stick training. I put a blanket on the floor , some toys and the stick. I take some toys out and play with the bird for a while, and periodically move the stick a little bit closer .
Making it a game I show the bird the stick and I play with it a bit, making it look like something really neat. Then I place it on the floor and let the bird grab onto it with a foot and look it over. I do this for a few sessions.
Next I roll it around on the floor again to get the bird interested, and I touch his/her feet with it all the time making it sound like the greatest thing ever. I do a lot of foot touching and if the bird grabs it I let him.
For the next few sessions I do what most of the articles say about bumping their abdomens with the stick etc etc, but I do it on the floor so it's not so threathening . Eventually we work from a play stand and the cage but this is how I start.
Nan
