tonight I walked upto Robin's cage, she saw me coming.
when I got to her cage to talk to her she looked at me for
a second ...then climbed down off her perch and went straight for her bowl
climbed onto it , and looked at me....as if to say .."feed me!"
then climbed back to her perch and whistled at me.
I had forgotten to fill her seed bowl today...and she was letting me know it.
hahaha...then after I filled her seed bowl, I put her cover on and flipped the light off
and walked toward my room....hahaha...I didn't get far, wow she just wouldn't stop screaching
I came back and put things right and she went straight back for her bowl.
I guess she doesn't like eating in the dark , huh.
She's so cool

UHOH...not nice to forget the kids..lol   Both of mine will eat at night under the covers.  Every time I get up for whatever reason..I hear click click..climb climb...then crackle crunch munch chomp.  They both go for night snacks.  Do you give her veggies and fruits too?  I've had some hanging on a skewer like affair for them and they love the apples and grapes on them.  Bad thing is you have to remember to remove it the same day or the fruits and veggies  will go bad and both of my girls seem to be attracted to the very thing that isn't good for them...like the stuff that falls through the grate.  Dale

I had a microphone in the bird room right next to Diana's cage that was hooked up to the speakers on my computer. I always knew what was going on in there. After lights out I kept hearing that funny crackly noise and couldn't figure out what they were doing. One time I tapped the door, said, I have to come in, flipped on the light and she's chowing down. Murphy was asleep, foot tucked up in his belly feathers, but my piggie bird was having her bedtime snack. Usually pellets that she carried across the cage to the water dish but never dunked. The crumbs dropped in but I never found a soaked pellet.
I used to sit and listen to her just for the soothing noise her munching made.

Lesa, sit and listen to her after you cover her at night. Be very quiet and I bet it will calm much of your anxieties. It's magic what birds can do for our brains if we just listen.

Other members, please remember that Lesa has vision loss and needs big bold font to read us.

They do let you know when you forget to feed them. None of mine eat in the dark - they all perch, beak grind, mumble then sleep - no eating in the dark. If the timer turns off the light and they have food in foot - they drop it.

Whoops, sorry about that!  I forgot all about your vision.  I bet Annie will have to remind me every time I post..hunh.  Tickles grinds her beak right after I put her covers on for the night...that sound is soooooooo relaxing..I wish I could have her in the bedroom as I bet it would help me relax to fall asleep.

I've never heard any sounds from her after I cover her   BUT
I've ussually got my hearing aids off by then because I have to wear
headsets to watch TV at night...SOOOOOO
I think tonight I'll slip my aids back on and sit in there and listen
I'm afraid that often I assume when I don't hear anything that it's because
there's nothing to hear..I can't wait to listen to her

I snuck in on my macaw one night - just to hear what was going on. The stinker told me NITE NITE very loudly - obviously I wasn't suppose to be in there.
