Hi, Everybirdie!! Well, here we are ... May already! I can't believe how quickly 2005 is moving! I sure miss some of our regulars who are having major computer problems and can't get on here to post. Feathers and Toolady (aka Scots) had their systems pretty much wiped out. Toolady has a friend trying to recover as many of her files as possible, and Feathers is plugging away trying to fix hers. I hope they are back soon! I've been really busy the past few days, and haven't been able to spend as much time here as I would like. My aging parents (82 and almost 84) aren't doing very well, so I've been spending as much time as I can with them, doing shopping for them and trying to cheer Mom up. I've also did more granddaughter sitting this weekend than I usually do. I was there from 4:45 pm Saturday until after 1:30 am, while Murray and Laura went for a kid-free dinner and took in a concert. They needed the time away, and really enjoyed it. Then on Sunday, I looked after Julia (18 months) for 4 hours while Murray and Laura took Emily to a kid's concert. So, needless to say, Gramma is pooped!! Those kids just never wear down ... but they sure do wear Gramma down! lol It's pretty obvious why humans have kids while they are young though ... parents need never-ending energy! Work has been really busy too, as the budget crunch is resulting in all kinds of changes in our school district. My birds are doing great. Sage (female white-eared conure) just turned 2 years old on April 29th. It's hard to believe that she is that age already! Time flies! A big welcome to all the new members. We enjoy hearing stories about your feathered friends, so please tell us all about them. Abby |

This is such an awful thing to admit to, but I don't remember the last time I cleaned the fridge. Gail was down here all the time and she always did it for me. She knew I hated to do it, so almost the first thing she would do when she got here was to clean the fridge. I never ask her too, she just started doing it years ago when I was real sick, when I lived in Houston and she kept it up after I moved here. Now that's a friend. She was 15yrs younger than I am and she was the one who was supposed to find new homes for my fids someday. Now of course, other arrangements will need to be made. Thanks for the info on the sidebar Too2. I never noticed it there. Peggy |

I've been working on plans for a trip back to Colorado next month. #2 Son and his family are going to meet us there. I haven't mentioned it to hubby yet but I am concerned about leaving Boo. We've left Gorgeous before and she's always done just fine. Sugar won't have any problems, I don't think. And little Lollipop probably won't either. Boo is so attached to her one-and-only love (my hubby) that she is apt to do more aggressive self-mutilating while we're away. (If I were rich instead of so beautiful, I'd have a special vehicle with built-in cages for the birds so they could go along every step of the way.) I guess we'd better start telling all of the fids about our being gone so they can start adjusting their thinking. I got Boo to keep Gorgeous company during the few times that we're gone and so now she's my biggest concern. |

Hi Everybirdie! I'm trying to get everything in order so I can leave bright and early Friday morning, on my trip down to Oregon. Lady Byrdbell (Crystal) and I will be going to the birdshow at Hillboro, where hopefully we'll hook up with Nanners, GoodBird and Sharon. I'll take the Washington State ferry from Vancouver Island to Port Angeles, Washington, and then drive down the Olympic Peninsula and then over to Portland, Oregon, which is right by Crystal's place. I'm really looking forward to seeing her again ... I haven't seen her since she came up in August two years ago to deliver Sage, my white-eared conure. Well, I'd best get back at it ... hope you're all having a wonderful week!! I'll talk to you again before I leave. Abby |

Well Dale, I think you sent the migraine fairy south to me... I've had one all day with no signs of letting up. Who wants it when it's done with me? Leslie, Birdlady, both of you have fun and safe trips. I love to travel... I hope we can manage to get down to the coast so the boys can play on the beach this summer. We'll still have to worry about the fids & critters though.... Too, I sure hope you can get your puter straightened out soon. Peggy, I have to agree with you... being married can be a headache sometimes. I also am with you about hating the heat (can we skip summer and go to fall?) and cleaning the fridge. I feel guilty now because I can't remember how long it's been since I cleaned mine either. Guess it's on the list for tomorrow or Thursday now... Sonny and Pearl (tiels) laid their 5th egg yesterday... I hope they are done. Guess I'll just have to wait and see. I'll try candling them in a few days. |

#2 Son lives in Portland, Oregon. He loves the climate. Hates the traffic congestion. Everyone who hates the heat of summer should follow me to Leadville, Colorado, next month. At 10,162' above sea level, it is the highest incorporated city in America -- possibly the world. It's definitely cool in the summer!! We lived there for over 20 years and I recall that every 4th of July we wore our coats to watch the fireworks. It's going to seem strange to be packing sweaters, sweatshirts, and coats in the middle of June but they're necessities for this trip. One extreme to the other! |

I think my sister takes tomamax, we how ever
you spell it. She has found relief from most of her migraines with
something and of course imertex.
If you want to talk to her about migraines she
used to have one almost every day, and a bad one once a week. I am not sure the
details but she found something that almost got rid of all of them.
Have you all tried a chiropractor, and had your
jaw, neck and back aligned? I know a lot of people find relief through jaw
alignment. That was not a help to my sister, she had food allergies and could
hardly eat anything. then she found this new thing, (might be the tomamax) and
now she is eating everything again. (Gained some weight. LOL) [email protected]. send her a note and ask her what
she found that worked if is was the tomamax or what it was, cause she has found
major relief.. Good luck..
Do not be shy, she loves to talk about her
aliments, LOL.
Crow.

Well, I am NOT on my way to see Crystal in Oregon. I picked Dad up from the hospital yesterday morning at 8:00 and took him home. He was in terrible shape! I actually had to help him get dressed at the hospital, poor man. I felt so bad for him. Anyway, after I got him home and into bed, and picked up some things they needed. Then I went back yesterday afternoon after work to get a prescription for Dad, and to get some more things that had come up. I realized driving home last night that there was no way that I could go down to Oregon and leave Mom and Dad on their own. With Dad immobilized, they have no way to get anywhere, since Mom hasn't been able to drive for years. Had to take Dad in to the clinic this morning to have his incision checked and the dressing changed, and go to the store for them. I'm really disappointed as I was really looking forward to the trip. However, I would feel guilty every inch of the way if I went, and would just worry about them. I'd rather be here where Mom and Dad can call me if they need anything. I sure hope everyone having a great week! Abby |

It's HOT. I've finally resorted to useing the AC,s. My puppies will be ready to go next week. I sure ready for that.
This is short, but I need to get ready for work. Hope you all have a great day. |

Hi everyone Well, Dad is still in hospital. He was admitted on Saturday night, but they weren't able to identify the bacteria and start giving him appropriate antibiotics until a couple of days ago. However, he is now well hydrated, and his blood pressure is good. Hopefully, he is on the road to recovery. I'm sorry I haven't been able to be here much, but with driving back and forth a couple of times a day and working as well, I have been pretty much burned out by the time I get home. I hope everyone is doing well, and that all your birds are in fine feather!!! I sure miss you all bunches!! I hope to be back soon! Love ya! Abby |

My heart goes out to care-givers and bedside-sitters, Abby. My husband spent 3 months alternating between my bedside in the hospital and all of the things that had to be taken care of at home. And, when I got home, he was still there for me hour after hour, day after day, week after week, month after month. He probably thought that he'd spend the rest of his life contending with my condition while trying to lead some sort of a normal life, too. His tender, loving care helped bring about the miracle of my rebirth into the land of the living. Hang in there, Abby. You're in the ranks of ministering angels. If the weather is sunny today, bird cages are going out into the yard for a spring-cleaning. It's been a long time since it was warm enough and I had the time to do that. I thought that Too2 was back but I don't see where she's been around here since her reappearance. Did I miss something? |

Tomorrow we head off to the vet to have Dolly X-rayed to see if there is lead in his stomach. Then he teaches me to give him shots to bind up the lead. We also have to pick up a couple of closet kits, one for our house and one for the rental house in town. Reggie's due for dinner ( Reggie is Wayne's snake) so we have to stop at Petco and get a feeder mousie. Reggie is already 2 years old and prey imprinted so giving him dead mice is not an option unfortunately. The last couple of times the little buggers have gotten loose and tried to make a break for it. I end up catching them and feeling bad. But the snake has to eat too so I try to not hang around during feeding time We've had a fluxation of kittens again and I'm taking them to the local vet to get their shots. In 3 weekes we have a yard sale and kitten give a way lol. I am putting posters up all over town!!! Nan |
