Whole Soaked Cooked or Sprouted Grains
Ingredients Amaranth,Quinoa,Spelt,Wheat,Rye,Oats,Millet,Kamut,Mung Beans,Adzuki beans.Take about one to a half teaspoon of each to one tablespoon, take size of Bird into consideration. Procedure Place small quantities of each,(you don't need them all,try three or so)in a canning or mason jar with cheesecloth caught into screw on part of lid,or use clean screening material.Fill jar no more than two thirds full with selected grains, soak in dark overnight, rinse well, cook on low for 40 minutes or so,using enough fresh water to cover well. When done, they will mash quite easily with fork, some firmness is fine, though.Add any cut up veggies/fruits desired,a bit of alafalfa, and serve in place of one a.m. and one p.m feeding. Can be frozen into ice cube trays for individual servings and microwaved on low to defrost.Any Bird can eat this.If desired, only cook half of soaked overnight grains, and rinse remaining grains every 12 hours, twice daily. This will allow them to sprout, wait until they are 1/4 inch in the tails, make sure you are rinsing twice daily, and lightly cook these when sprouted to desired length. The purpose of sprouting is to take away fat, turns it into a veggie ,so helps a Bird who may be overweight,or for one you don't want to get that way,or one that needs to eat his veggies!!!
