Birdie Bars (from LilBit-MA)
Ingredients This is my own rendition of the birdie bars:
In a medium large mixing bowl, put one cup of Grapenuts cereal, one cup crushed Total flakes or Corn Chex. Add one egg, one small 5 oz. can of evaporated milk, 1/4 c. unsweetened applesauce, chopped dried fruits (any kind), chopped nuts, 1/4 tsp cinnamon and/or nutmeg, and 1 tbsp brown sugar and 1/2 tsp baking powder. Mix well and spoon into 9x13 baking pan sprayed with Pam. Bake for 35 min. at 350. Done when tester comes out clean. Let cool and cut into narrow bars. They are nutritious and filling and can be frozen! Recipe can be double easily..with four in this flock, I have to! Submitted by <NOBR>LilBit-MA</NOBR>, 07/02/2001.
