Release Your Passion;
Loose the Arrows of Prophetic Destiny
by Tommy Tenney
We are too quick to assume that God would never deal with us in the same way He dealt with King Joash. That is a dangerous assumption based more on lowered human expectation than on the eternal principles of God's Word.

Jesus Blesses the Children
13One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch them and bless them, but the disciples told them not to bother him. 14But when Jesus saw what was happening, he was very displeased with his disciples. He said to them, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15I assure you, anyone who doesn't have their kind of faith will never get into the Kingdom of God." 16Then he took the children into his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.
The disciples act as deputized passion police and try to stop the children who come to Jesus because they disturb the me-centered "big-people" service. Many Christians have a very unbiblical picture of Jesus as a mellow, laid-back, and nonconfrontational spiritual guru who always kept His passions at an even level. To make matters worse, they often model their lives after this passionless picture of their Redeemer?/FONT>with predictable results. The Bible paints a totally different picture of the Savior of the world.
Jesus was the fulfillment of the prophetic phrase "Zeal for Your house has eaten me up," the day He physically overturned the money changers' tables in the temple. It is true that Jesus never lost control of His passions, yet His bold confrontations with the scribes and Pharisees provoked some of them to plot His death, and His love for people led Him to lay down His life on the cross. By any definition, Jesus was a passionate man. How would you define your life?
All too often, we allow our destiny to be sabotaged by the passion police roaming the halls of worship . . .
If the people ever realize that they hold the arrows of prophetic destiny in their passionate praise and fervent worship, I suspect the sleepiness would vanish and apathy would give way to a thunderous display of passion. The enemies of God's people would scatter even faster than the shamefaced passion police as God Himself rushes to the scene of the act of passion to personally respond in kind.
The Word of God declares, "Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered." Do you want to see God arise in your home, in your church, and in your city or region? Praise Him, worship Him. Build a tabernacle of praise for His habitation with your adoration.
Prayer
Lord, I repent for all the times I held back my passion or compromised my convictions to calm the discomforts of people. You are my Audience of One, You are my First Love, and the only One I care to please. I release my passion for You right now as if it is an arrow in flight. Lift us into the heavenlies with You that we may pursue our divine destiny in Your kingdom.
