~~~~~ They fished all night ~~~~~~~
Luke 5:1--And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,
v2--and saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.
v3--And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land, And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.
These two ships represent the two covenants; LAW AND GRACE.
Notice, both ships were at this time left alone-- empty. The fishermen had left them; and were washing their nets -- showing they had given up the idea of catching any fish.
Jesus entered into Simon’s ship ( this is the same as Peter; the one to whom Jesus gave the keys of the kingdom to). Now he taught the people from this ship; indicating the time to come when Peter would open the New Gate to Heaven = GRACE.
Now, v 4--Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
v5--And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
The Word says that the ‘sun?went down on the Prophets. This shows that when the O.T. Covenant was ended, the prophets were no more. God had moved from them, to the N.T. ministers. So, that old covenant was in ‘darkness, or night?
The night indicates a time when God is not moving or using that particular time or person. So, now the prophets and the law are in ‘night? No sun light is there; meaning no light of God’s Word.
They [the O.T. had ‘fished?all NIGHT and caught nothing. In Isaiah 26: 18, it says they had wrought no deliverance in the earth. That old law covenant had toiled all night; but wrought nothing.
Now v 6--And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their NET BRAKE.
That old covenant = [that net] broke; for it could not do the Word of God of bringing deliverance.
In verse 7-- they beckoned unto their partners, and they filled both the ships, so that they began to SINK.
See, they tried to go with BOTH covenants; but in so doing they both will SINK. People, you cannot serve both-- you cannot serve TWO masters; you must leave one to cling to the other. You cannot make it trying to go under both LAW AND GRACE.
You know then Jesus told them, Henceforth [ meaning from now on = in Grace, you will catch men].
Now something wonderful!!! v11--And when they had brought their ships to land, they FORSOOK ALL, AND FOLLOWED HIM.
See, they now left all that O.T. stuff and followed Jesus.
p.s. Next, see the net which did NOT break.
~~~~~~~~~ They fished all night, a second time ~~~~~~~~~

John 21:1- 11~~~~ This is after the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus had shown himself again to the disciples at the sea.

v3--Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night THEY CAUGHT NOTHING.

Notice, it is again at NIGHT-- spiritually signifying that it is still in that old covenant of law. They had not at this time been brought into the New Covenant.

Now notice verse 4--- But when the MORNING was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

Why? This is signifying that the New Covenant has come; Morning represents the light of God coming. So, the New Testament is being shown here. So, they do not recognize Jesus; as he has changed into the flesh and bone person of the last man Adam; not the flesh and blood person of the first man Adam which he was before the resurrection.

Verse 5--Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.

This is showing that as children of the Old Covenant, law, they still did not have any spiritual meat to give out.

Oh, I know most people will say this is JUST a happening which does not show any such things: but remember, ALL SCRIPTURE IS PROFITABLE FOR DOCTRINE.

If that is all this is, why is it recorded as SCRIPTURE? No, if it were just an event without spiritual meaning it would NOT be recorded as SCRIPTURE.

V6--And he said unto them, Cast the net on the RIGHT side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

See, this shows that they moved from the old, left side of the covenant = law --- to the new right side = GRACE.

When they did this, they caught so many fish they could not draw it in. See, again showing that they had fished all NIGHT, but wrought no deliverance. But at Jesus?word, they came into the New Covenant and caught more than they could count.

You know that Jesus likened the Kingdom to a net cast into the sea. That is what this is all about. The Kingdom NET of the New Testament being cast out into the sea of the masses of people. See, both NETS are out there; Law and Grace. The LAW is a NIGHT of darkness. Grace is the DAY STAR arising in your hearts.

v8--And the other disciples came in a little ship; [representing the small remnant of the true Church]; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.

This represents the end of the world when the angles bring the NET of the gospel in and divide the good ‘fish?from the bad and cast the bad away.

V9--As soon then as they were come to land { showing they are now come into the N. T.}--they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid theron, and bread.

This food provided by Jesus shows his giving them the spiritual food of the New Covenant.

v10--Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have NOW caught.

See, Jesus tells them to bring in the food they caught on the RIGHT side of the ship = the N.T. converts of the gospel preached by the disciples.

v11-- Simon Peter went UP, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, YET WAS NOT THE NET BROKEN.

So what have we here? Wonderful news!!!!!!! The New Testament Net of the Gospel WILL be sufficient and bring DELIVERANCE. This time it will NOT break; this time we will not have to say, we have toiled and wrought no DELIVERANCE.

So, Jesus placed what they had now caught with what he had already provided and brought it together and said, Come and DINE.

So, the BRIDE says COME AND DINE on the good things of the NEW TESTAMENT.

Hello vendor,

Yes, there are N.T. prophets; but, and I have to explain this every time I make the statement of the O.T. prophets being done away with.

I am amazed that so few people understand the difference in the prophets of the N.T. and the Old Testament Prophets.

The Word said that the LAW  AND  THE  PROPHETS  were  UNTIL  John the Baptist.
In other words the  LAW  AND  THE  PROPHETS  ended with John the Baptist.  John was the last old testament Prophet which God used to give the Word of God to people through.

In Hebrews it said in  TIME  PAST (meaning the O.T.)  God spoke to people by the PROPHETS;      BUT    in these last days = (the N.T. times)--- God speaks to us by his  SON.

So the N.T. prophets only give personal prophecies to people or fortell some immediate event such as the one who spoke of a soon coming draught.

But there are NO MORE  OLD  TESTAMENT  PROPHETS   SINCE  JESUS  CAME.

I have copied this from some of the material which Christian11 gave us access to:

I am also proud that I recorded the King James Version. Although many other versions of the Bible have been written, the King James Version is my favorite. It is still recognized by Bible scholars and academics as the most accurate and most beautiful rendition ... and for the sheer beauty of the English Language the King James version has no equal. I know that you will love it."

The above was written by Alexander Scourby a number of years ago, and it's as true today as the day he wrote it.

 I hope some of those who lie about this precious book,  and slander it,  will read this.

Jo

Christian11, thank you for giving us a link to all this material.

I would think then, that what Jesus said about adding new wine to old bottles and new cloth to an old garment would mean the same thing as the broken and unbroken fish nets.

This is some good teaching.  I am really learning a lot from you all.      THANKS.
And I certainly agree with what you say about the King James  Version.
