(Between today and February 21, 2009 the MSN Groups service will remain the same as it is now. We will remove the option to add more storage to your group but other features will remain until the service is shut down and you can use it the same way you do today until the date of closure. Watch the site and your email inbox over the next week as we will post updated information there, including a more detailed outline of your options and next steps.) Okay folks, here's the scoop............... I went to the website, read the letter they posted and copied the portion above................. It looks legit to me and it probably is, but I won't act until I see the things mentioned above take place. As of now, our option to increase our storage is still available. I have not received an email from these folks informing me of any closings or moves............ Also, our room has not received a post from them about it............... so, what do we do? We wait. February is still a few months off and if it's true, we'll have time to react...................... As Pat (DVD Man) has suggested, stay calm. I do thank JD CD for bringing this post to us and for his concern in informing us. It's members like him who help keep groups like this alive and I, and the other managers, appreciate it. He's the "Paul Revere" of our group if this rumor turns out to be true.......... Anyway, ya'll stay calm. When we see them take away our option to add more storage and we receive an email from them, we'll know we have to act. We will move the room if necessary............ Bob |

Hi Joni, Thanks for the info. I hate the fact they're moving the room, but will do all I can to keep the group together. I'll be watching for the instructions and waiting for MSN to drop a post in our room. Bob |

Beware If you see links for Multiply and want to try it out be warn that it will automatic move your groups now even if you are not ready seem MSN don't want to waste time moving everyone!? in other words if you are not ready to move your groups yet and want to check around for a new place in case then do not try out the links for Multiply |

Bob, thanks for the compliments. Here is a post I made over in CJ.... "It is recommended that any users who are going to have a group or join a group, to go ahead and create their personal accounts now if they wish before the migration. They will have to do this first anyway. This gives them time to access this group and usersupport so they have all of the information they need. They will also have time to adjust their personal settings, profile, dress up their site if they wish, meet up with each other etc. " One thing to be aware of (I found out right away) user names with symbols and other dodads can not be used on Multiply so over there, jd_cd will be mrwild985 I hate having to read so much. From what I have read so far, only a manager can migrate the MSN site. I am also waiting till we are notified that we are migrating. Problems can come up if you try and build your group ahead of time, because not all the features match up. Your members may want to back-up their photos just in case. I have already backed-up CJ's sub pages. Here is my page on Multiply. It is very basic and, like was said by Joni, at first it was confusing. http://mrwild985.multiply.com/ |

Country Jamboree hasn't moved! But I have been experimenting with my site on Multiply and have worked out how our site may look after we do move. http://mrwild985.multiply.com/ You should be able to look the layout over even if you haven't joined Multiply yet, To get to the message board, just click "Blog" then select a message and that will open for you to read and a block to reply to it. (I don't think you can't reply if your not a member). Photos is easy to understand. Click on a photo and extra details can be viewed. Music is another simple area to understand. Reviews is not reviews (but changing the title is a programing nightmare) it is actually a chatroom. Links is another one that is easy to understand. Click on the link and you will get extra details and the actual link. Now the one thing that is new is the "Tags". Those are the funny words at the bottom of the front page. The size of the words indicates the number of items that are tagged with the word. If you click the "Tag", you will see a list of all those items. I think Multiply will work. What do you think. |
