This week's contestants on NBC's The Biggest Loser know all about the perils of eating in restaurants. They live it and breathe it and—you gotta admit—it shows.
But as we watch the Sapienza and Senti families learn to live a lean life while running their restaurants, let's digest some eating out tips from past cast members and an expert:
—No Bread "Tell the server: Don't even bring out the bread. That's the first request out of my mouth at a restaurant."
—Taco Queen "Know the calorie counts of fast foods. For example, I know that a taco at a Mexican fast food restaurant has only 185 calories. So I order a taco."
—Salad First "When eating out, always have a salad first. It will dull your appetite."
—Mmmm, Edamame! "A great appetizer to order at an Asian restaurant or a sushi bar is edamame, steamed soybeans. They're delicious, and you can fix them at home, too. Just pop them in the microwave for a few seconds, then sprinkle a little sea salt on them, and enjoy."
__Request water with NO ICE and Drink the water!!!! Drinking water before you eat helps reduce your hunger and fill your tummy, with the aded benefit of rehydrating you! __Running around doing Errands and hunger hits!!! As a diabetic I have to eat at certain times because of my medication. I also run around like a chicken with my head cut off at times and can't always plan ahead, so when I'm out and that time hits, I head for Arbys, High protien, low carb! YAY! |

I am delighted to report that IHOP has a new Just for you menu. It's low carb food. IE....fresh fruit and no potatoes and all kinds of goodies. Sure does make it easier to order. lol Blessings, Skadhi |
