Matthew 27:45
Man can be at times the most wonderful living being that the LORD God ever created. God has given man knowledge in all types of areas such as science, math, electronics, and the treatment of physical diseases and illnesses. However, man, in his own mind thinks he is so clever and smart. Even though God has blessed man, man can be completely opposite from compassionate, caring and generous.
The Bible says that mans heart is on evil continually. Man's heart is black, dark and sinister,as well as vile and wicked. So let's go back in time to the darkest day in human history when man stooped to the lowest point that he possibly could.
Some would say what is worse than a rapist, murderer, a theif, a child molester or maybe even a sodomite? What indeed could be worse?
Let your mind and heart go back about 2000 years ago or so to a place called the upper room as we've come to know it in Christendom today. Jesus was eating His a meal with His discipiles and there was perhaps laughing and smiling while they ate.
Then Jesus was again as times before telling them of His death and ressurrection. Their laughter and light heartedness would soon turn to fear. They would soon enter the Garden of Gethsemane where the LORD would pray to the Father in great agony and win the victory there, to go on to the cross to die for the salvation of all that would come to Him by faith, believing in Him and trusting Him alone for the forgiveness of sin and receive everlasting life.
In chapter 26:47 that Judas came with a great multitude with swords and staves from the chief priests and elders(the religious crowd) and Judas used a kiss of betrayal instead of a kiss of true love and affection.Chapter 27:1 says When the morning was come all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put Him to death.
On the night before as well as the next day they bound Him, blinded folded Him, mocked Him, beat Him, accused Him falsely, spit on Him, ripped His beard from His face, stripped Him, blasphemed Him, hit Him in the head with a reed, scourged Him, placed a crown of thorns on His head. In other words they beat Him close to death.
They scourged Him, He was literally torn to pieces while being whipped, then as He carried the cross He was so weakened by the loss of blood they got Simon from Cyrene to finish carrying the cross to Golgotha. There they crucified Him casts lots for His garnment they pierced His side with a spear and the water and blood did flow.
So in closing man stooped so low as to think that he was able to take the LORD's life. We too are guilty of all the things done to Christ on that day, just as sure as the soldiers the religious crowd and people. Remember as you read all the accounts of that dark and dreaded day the people cried CRUCIFY HIM. I'm glad to tell you that it didn't end there. All the God haters and the imps, demons and the hoards of hell thought that they had won the battle but stone was rolled away and He is risen to the right hand of the Father.
Won't you ask Him to be your SAVIOR today.
