From: MSN Nickname SEB1625 (Original Message)Sent: 2/24/2006 7:13 PM Too Busy Luke 2:40-49 Text Verse 49 As we look around us today we see all types of events and happenings everyday. We look on our highways and see all types of folks always running here and there, hardly ever stopping to see the things that are most important. They're going on vacation to places like the mountains, the beach, lake and other places in between. So often even good Christian people don't take the time to stop and pray to the God of heaven and thank Him for the blessings He has bestowed upon us.What a sad testimony. Sometimes on Sunday afternoon we may go to grandma's house to eat dinner. Then before you know it it's too late to go to Sunday evening service. Where oh where did the time go? Plan your time and make time for the LORD and what HE wants. Then it's mid-week service. Here comes little Wilbur and says, "daddy, I've got baseball practice tonight or I've got a game tonight and it just won't do for me not to be there after all I'm the star player." Then there's little Sally Ann. I've got basketball practice or I've got a game tonight and I've got to be there they can't win without me I'm the star player. Then here comes mom and dad. I just don't have the time to do things for God. My job (business) is just too important for me to get off on time to do something for the LORD. I know they say to trust God but I've just got to work, I'll trust Him later when I finally get ahead. So what if I have to work on Sunday or Wednesday. There is nothing exactly wrong with the things that were just spoken about in and of themselves. However when they take the place before service to the LORD it becomes a real problem even with good Christian people and before you know it they become entangled in these things and try to justify it by denying the truth. How then should we be when it comes to doing the Father's business? (a) As Jesus, He was strong in the Spirit, holy, separated, and crucified His own will to the Father's (b) Wisdom to discern the things that be of God (c) He was listening to the aged men (d) He asked them questions (e) He taught them the things of God (f) We may be the only Bible anyone ever sees. Our LORD was compelled and driven. His eyes were focused and His mind was set to accomplsh His Father's will and not His own. How many times must we be taken to the wood shed and be beaten till we get the message? How many times till the answer is yes and we say "here I am use me LORD?" Does the LORD have to resort to grievious measures such as maybe allowing our finances to suffer, our health to go astray, our marriages destroyed or maybe take away a child to get our attention? How many trips to the alter does it take how many confessions with no actions till we get it right? Are we so terribly busy that the conduct we put forth may cause a lost person to reject the message of the gospel and get the wrong idea of what a Christian considers most important? Don't think for a second that a lost person can't tell what our lips are saying but our actions say something all together different. We must be faithful so when the LORD returns He'll find us about our Father's business. We shouldn't desire partial blessings when the LORD has so much more in store for us. So what about us are we Too, too busy. Hope we're not. He wasn't too busy for us. He took the time to die for us. He took our place at Calvary that day. He arose again on the third day and will come again and receive us unto Himself. |
