Absolutely yes and no futher discussion is needed. Does this startle you and if so why should it.
How about if, little Wilbur as we'll call him says to you one day I'm not going to school anymore what would say? Or lets's say Wilbur says he's not going to bathe anymore. I bet you'd say to these two illustrations oh yes you are and that's that, or at least I hope you would.
So why would some parents be timid about making him go to Sunday School, a place that would help his spiritual growth and guidance? Are you going to let him decide what church he'll attend when he's old enough? If you don't make him go to Sunday School how would he have enough spiritual discernment to know what is of God and what isn't? You don't wait until he's old enough to decide whether he's going to school or to take a bath do you?
So what shall we say when Wilbur announces he doesn't like Sunday School or church? That's easily answered. Be consistent and tell him in this house we go to Sunday School and church and that includes you too. Your firmness and your example will be a bridge over which youthful rebellion may travel into a rich and satisfying experience in personal Christian living.
We as parents need to set the proper example and not just send them on the church van as so many parents do. Hopefully there are no Christian parents that do this.
