What Are You Gonna Do
Matthew 27:1-6 & 19-25
Text Verse 24

Have you ever wondered how people shun their responsibilities? People have a tendency to deny certain truths. People are constantly trying to justify their actions knowing a lot of times they are wrong. Things such as lying, stealing, shooting, rape, adultery and the such. So it goes in this wicked world we live in today.
Most willingly accept their parts in life whether it be good, bad or indifferent. The truths of denial and acceptance of responsibilities are even more evident in the spiritual realm when it comes to the things of God.
Folks refuse to believe that they will be and are accountable to the God of Heaven. They say they believe that Jesus is the Son of god but when pressed to explain why they believe it they cannot tell you why. The reason is that more than likely they are not saved, the Holy Spirit isn’t living within and so they cannot give a testimony. They just don’t understand just how merciful God is to them just by allowing them to live.
It is so sad when you see people try to act and be a Christian when the very speech they use and the ways they act betray them. All the things that they get involved in witness against them.
(1) Judas Iscariot
(a) Made a plot with the religious crowd
(b) Leads the mob to Jesus
(c ) Lies to the LORD
(d) Gives a kiss of betrayal
(e) Repented to himself
All he had to do even at the last second was to ask forgiveness and the LORD would have without question. He would have received full pardon right then and there. He had self pity and not Godly sorrow, only sorry he got caught. He kissed the threshold of Heaven and instead went to a devil’s hell.
(2) Simon Peter
(a) He denied he knew the LORD
(b) He followed afar off (cowardliness)
(c ) Fearful of getting too close
(d) He cursed and swore
We pick on Peter a lot but the others ran too. Mark 14:31 says all said they wouldn’t deny.
(3) John
(a) He went into the palace
(b) He put his life in danger being known of the High Priest and such
(c ) He was devoted to the LORD
(4) Pontius Pilate’s Wife
(a) Suffered in dreams
(b) Stressed out
(c ) Fearful
(d) Lost
Maybe in that dream she could see herself and Pilate falling, falling, tumbling down, down, down into hell. Smelling smoldering flesh that would not be consumed. Fire that never will be quenched, eternal separation from God. Both screaming to God have mercy on us but too, too late.
(5) Pilate
(a) Questioned Jesus
(b) Knew of Jesus
(c ) Being a politician
(d) Pleasing man rather than God
(e) Reject eternal blessing
(f) Received eternal damnation
(g) Rejected Christ even though he knew the truth
(h) Tried to wash his hands of innocent blood
We can become guiltless of innocent blood even though we fail too at many times. The things of the spiritual realm cannot be just washed away.
We can do this by coming through the blood by the way of the cross and have our sins washed away. Christ shed His blood for us that we can be cleansed of the filthiness of sin and start a new life.
So in closing, what is your soul worth? There is no price except one. Jesus paid for the right to purchase yours. He paid the price and not us. Will you too sell your soul and the Son of Man for just thirty pieces of silver?
