The Sovereignty of God
God is God. He's always been God and always will be. As the definition of God, He has all power, all might, all dominion, and He has always been sovereign, is sovereign, and always will be sovereign. In this present age He has delegated all power to God the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Being sovereign, God has sovereignly decreed that He will allow angels and mankind to make willful decisions of their own which go against God's perfect will. That was God's sovereign choice and it is undeniable in Scripture. God told Israel through Joshua, "Choose you this day whom you will serve" thus showing they actually truly had a choice. They could choose God or they could reject God. This is the very foundation of Christian belief - we do not force our beliefs on anyone but we allow them to choose to believe, reject, or have no religious belief at all, because God affords them that same privilege.
When I witness, I don't try to talk people "into it". I look for the people God is already talking to and who are open to Him. I don't deny a person's God-given right to reject God. "Ye do always resist the Holy Spirit". Some people choose to reject Christ; some choose to accept. I seek the latter.
So has God LOST His sovereignty by allowing man choice? Nope. Man, like satan, is on a chain and can only go as far as God has chosen to allow him to go. And God will overrule anyone anytime He pleases. He will force Russia's ruler to attack Israel in these last days. He will put a hook in his jaw and force him against Israel.
No one can do anything, man or devil, without God's permission, but that does not mean God approves. God allows mankind to abort God's children, but God does not approve and God did not make them do it. He allowed their choice.
I believe and teach that God wants His people to assemble corporately to praise, worship, pray, sing, study Scripture, listen to Scripture expounded, and fellowship around His throne. That is my belief, and I believe that is what God wants His people to do and I believe that those who do not do so are in disobedience, but I do not believe God will force them to do it and I also believe He has sovereignly chosen to allow even His own children to disobey.
Now you can believe what you want to, but the above is my hamburger. You don't want to eat it, then don't, but there it is.
