How do we love God ? Jesus commanded it, and Jesus tells us how to do it. Here's what Jesus commanded.

"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment."  Matthew 22: 37-38

Where did Jesus get this from, you may ask ? Well, Jesus said this commandment together with another one like it (Matthew 22: 39), are what all the prophets and the law hang on (Matthew 22: 40). If we go to Deuteronomy 6: 5, you will see that God told Israel the very same thing. Then, God broke it down for them, and made it clear. Here's what God said is how He wanted to be loved. First, God said He is ONE LORD, and we are to love Him with all our hearts, souls, and all our might. Same as Jesus said. Then, God said we should keep these words in our hearts. God said we should teach them to our children, and talk about them all the time, no matter what we are doing, and no matter where we are. God said not to forget Him, and to fear Him. God said we are to serve Him. God said we shall not worship other gods. God said we should not tempt Him. God said to keep His commandments (Exodus 20: 1-17). God said to do good things in His sight. This is how we love God. We love God and only God by keeping His commandments and worshiping only Him.

Jesus said the same thing. Here is how we love God from Jesus' own mouth.

"He that hath My commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me : and he that loveth Me shall be loved of My Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him." John 14: 21

May God bless.
YSIC, Rosemary
