Grandma's Sausage Gravy, Drop Biscuits & Fried Potatoes
 
2 pounds of country sausage (with Sage)
3 to 4 pounds of potatoes
2 cans canned evaporate milk
flour
water
oil
salt & pepper to taste
dash of chili powder
Biscuit mix   (follow package directions)
 
Prepare potatoes by washing and slicing into thin slices. Place in a skillet. Add salt and pepper and chili powder. Cover. Reduce heat and stir often toprevent burning.
 
Make buiscuits.  (Follow directions on package or use refrigerator biscuits)
 
Brown sausage in a large skillet. Slowly add flour to skillet until the grease is absorbed. Stir in evaporated milk.
 
Rinse cans that the milk came in with the water. Add water to sausage mix until you get  the desired thickeness. Stir in salt & pepper.

I was told to post this so I did. LOL I have been amazed at the number of  people that do  not know how to make sausage gravy over the  years.
 
I also have found that adding some chili powder to the potatoes will help them brown. I also often add onions that are sliced thin, and or some garlic powder to add to the taste.
 
you can use regular milk to make the gravy but I grew up with the evaporated milk and I still like that best. I rinse olut the cans so that the water becomes a little flovered from the milk that never seems to want to come completely out of the can.
 
For the biscuits I don't measure anything. I usually get a large bag or box of biscuit mix. I pour the mix into a bowl and then add either some buttermilk or sour milk to the mix. I also melt some butter and add that. (If you want you can dice up butter and stir into the mix instad.) Add liquid until the mixture is a soft spoungy consistancy. Using a tablespoon drop onto a butter pan and bake at 450 degrees until brown on top. You can test the inside  by breaking one open or inserting a knife, but usually when the tops are brown the biscuits are done.
 
I usually serve with this one of two things. Either plain scrambles eggs or green beans. It depends if I want breakfast for supper or more of an evening meal.
