Homemade Gravy Mixes 6 Tbs. granulated bouillon* 2 cups sifted flour 1/2 tsp. pepper
* chicken, beef or onion bouillon granules
Combine the ingredients; place half in a blender container, and whirl into a powder; repeat for the other half of the ingredients. If using a food processor, whirl all at once. Store in a jar; labeled with directions, indefinitely at room temperature. Makes 2-1/2 cups or 8 servings of 1-3/4 cups gravy.
TO USE: Pour 3/4 cup water into a saucepan; heat gently. Put 4 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons gravy mix into a jar, add cold water and shake until smooth. Slowly pour the jar's mixture into the water in a saucepan; heat and stir until thick and smooth. Add a few drops Kitchen Bouquet or Gravy Master for coloring if desired. For a creamier texture add 1 tablespoon butter or margarine.
MUSHROOM GRAVY-- Whirl 1 cup dried mushroom slices into blender or food processor until finely powdered; set aside. Whirl other ingredients, using chicken bouillon; blend in mushroom powder. Use 5 tablespoons of mix for gravy.
HERB GRAVY-- Before blending; add to the mix ingredients 1/2 cup dried crushed parsley flakes, 1/4 cup dried chives and 1/2 teaspoon thyme. Use 1/2 cup mix for gravy.
