Kid's Quick Cream Biscuits - OUTSTANDING!
"This is an excellent recipe for kids to make, easy, quick and hard to mess up."
2 cups self rising flour 1 cup plus 2 tsp. whipping cream or heavy cream
That's it for the ingredients!
Preheat oven to 450F. Combine ingredients, stirring with a fork until flour is moistened. Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface; knead only 4 or 5 times, and roll out to 1/2 inch thickness.
IMPORTANT! Do NOT roll out thin, as they DO NOT RISE. I repeat, DO NOT ROLL OUT THIN. Cut with a 2 inch biscuit cutter without twisting cutter.
Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly browned. Optional: Brush tops with melted margarine or bacon grease before baking if desired.
OR, biscuits can be made with 2 1/4 cups self-rising flour and 1 cup half and half.
Yield: 1 dozen biscuits "that are to die for drizzled with honey. This is good for for beginning cooks and is economical. This is my down and dirty quick for Sunday dinner biscuit that reminds me of Granny's. This recipe I think came from Fannie Flagg's, Original Whistle Stop Cafe Cookbook."
If you don't have self-rising flour on hand, use: 2 cups all purpose flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt
