You could also make beads with herbs that are said to attract faeries. Here is an easy recipe:

Easy Herbal Beads

From a Making Beads from Herbs kit by Tina Sams

I recommend you purchasing this kit before starting these beads it is a great little kit with premixed herbal packets that you just need to add water to. The kit also contains more information on why you use the different ingredients. you can get it at: essentialherbal. com

When i made herbal beads with this I think I actually omitted the beeswax and they still turned out fine. I made really awesome smelling Patchouli beads. I suggest you either buy pre-powdered herbs or that you infest in a coffee grinder just for this purpose.

1 1/2 T powdered herb or spice
1 t gum tragacanth
1 t orris root powder
1 t benzoin (optional

Blend dry ingredients well. Place in a small microwaveable bowl.

Add 1/2 t grated beeswax and about 2 T of water. Mix thoroughly and microwave for about one minute.

Immediately work the melted wax into the other ingredients with the back of a spoon. When the dough is cool enough, use your fingers to knead it together. Water can be added if the dough requires it, or more of any of the dry ingredients- a pinch at a time if its too wet. The dough should be firm almost like modeling clay. When the consistency feels right and the dough holds together in small balls rolled between the fingers, add 3 to 5 drops of essential oil.

Note: Coloring would be added either while mixing the dry ingredients, or just before heating, as with wax candle coloring. To use gel icing colorant, mix thoroughly with the water prior to mixing in the powder.

Rolling the Beads

Begin by pinching off small pieces of the dough and rolling it into small balls against a cardboard work surface. After they are formed, spear them gently with florist wire, where they will stay for a day or two until dry. Experiment all you like. If it doesn't work, just start over. The beads can be any shape or size you'd like but very large ones should be strung together on the wire sop that they hold each other up off of the surface on which they will dry. Small beads will be dry enough to remove from the wire in a few hours. Large beads need to stay awhile and should be turned a couple of times a day to prevent them from sticking to the wire.

Stringing

Twenty two gauge wire will leave holes large enough for a regular sewing needle to pass through. Dental floss is a string thread and there are several types of strings made specifically for beading available in craft stores.

These beads are especially attractive when strung in combination with gemstone beads, beads you make from fimo clay, and of course natural materials, juniper berries, allspice, cardamom pods, rosehips and many other spices and seeds can be strung easily by soaking them first in warm water for 15 min. Roll them on dry paper towel before stringing, to prevent too much water falling onto the herb beads.
