Handstamped Candles

Here is a fun craft and great gift Idea.

You will need:

White Medium to Large Pillar Candles
(inexpensive ones are best - look for sales, or try the dime store - Mc Frugals, Rite Aid, whatever you have in your area)
White Tissue Paper
Rubber Stamps
Embossing Powder - metallics look nice - but sometimes the glittery ones don't work as well for this..
Ink Pads
Ink Pens or Colored Pencils
Embossing Heat Gun (you can find these in the stamp section of your craft store)

Cut a piece of tissue paper to fit around the candle, then  (the kids can help with this part, but an adult should do the embossing) stamp whatever image you like on the tissue- fairies, flowers, dragons, cats, leaves..... and emboss the image -follow the directions on the embossing powder- then color the image, use bright colors, when you melt the tissue into the candle a thin layer of wax will cover the image and you want it to show through....

once your tissue is decorated the way you like hold it around the candle, and use the heat gun to gently melt the surface of the candle (start in the center and work your way out to prevent bubbles) the tissue will melt into the candle, just be patient and careful, and call your first candle a "Practice" because it takes a bit of practice to use the heat gun! you want to melt the candle as evenly as you can and just gently press the tissue in..

you can use other colors of candles, but white will show off the Images best.. and wouldn't this be a fun way to make candles for spells! you can really put your intent into it!
