The Duhaney Immigrants came Ireland mostly, Ireland is said to produced the largest

number of Immigrants to the United States during the time spanning from 1820 to 1855.

One factor that lead to the large surge in emigration was the great potato famine from

1845 to 1849, when many Irish fled to new countries. Between 1820 and 1930, 4.5 million

Irish entered America, though prior to 1790, only 8,000 of 950,000 immigrants to the

United States were from Ireland.

Port They Left From

The port of departure is not always the port where a person first boarded a ship.

Oftentimes, the departure was listed as the last port the ship had stopped prior to

reaching the arrival port. Therefore, many immigrants are shown as having

departed from ports nowhere near their original boarding locations.

Ports They Left From

Liverpool, England is said to be a key Port of Departure for the Duhaney/Dehaney Familyin 1913. Liverpool is the third city of Great Britain and after London the leading commercial port of Europe. It is situated on the east bank of the Mersey estuary, three miles from the Irish Sea and 175 miles northwest of London. The city owes its chief importance to its being a great seat of foreign export and import trade. It is the main outlet for the manufactures of Lancashire, Yorkshire, and Staffordshire, and carries on the principal part of the trade of England with Australia, America, India, Africa and the Mediterranean. So as you can see Liverpool was and played a great part to the ancestors of the Duhaney/Dehaney Family.
