A Word To Those
Who Want To Play With Sin

"The Gentile's life of utter self-indulgence does not bring satisfaction, but rather fans the flame of an unquenchable desire that drives the individual further and further from God, and further and further from what God intends human beings to become." - The Victor Bible Background Commentary

"When men's consciences are once seared, there are no bounds to their sins. When they set their hearts upon the gratification of their lusts, what can be expected but the most abominable sensuality and lewdness, and that their horrid enormities will abound?" - Matthew Henry

They are everywhere. No matter what field of work you mention, they are there.

Who are we talking about?

They are the people who want to justify sin in their lives.

The sad part about it all is that oftentimes you will find them in somebody's church. But - no surprise - because most of the world goes to church!

One woman in particular once asked for prayer. She considered herself to be a fine Christian. She prefaced her prayer with these words - "Well, you know I slip every once in awhile, but pray for me that I will make it to the end." Her slipping happened to occur every Friday night when she got alone with her boyfriend. And then on Sunday, she was off to her Local Church as if nothing was wrong.

What kind of junk is this?

As one Preacher used to say on the streets of Dallas - "Somebody is going to pay off for this mess!"

Where did this woman ever get the idea that you can fornicate every Friday night, get up the next morning and ask Jesus to forgive you, and then run off to somebody's church on Sunday and still meet with God's approval?

Yet - sad to say - this is almost the norm for many here in "Christian" America!

In this message, we would like to get across to our readers that sin is not a light thing! It is not to be played with. It has an end to it, and it will take you there whether you want to go or not.

Whether you believe it or not or feel that anything is happening at the time - sin is doing its damnable work in your heart each and every time that you give in to its temptations. Your heart is being hardened more and more as you give in to its seducing pleasures. You are slowly being conformed to Satan's image and fulfilling his plan for your life.

You may say - I didn't know that Satan had an image or a plan for me. Well, now you know it! He has a counterfeit for everything that God has and God certainly desires for you to be conformed to the image of His Son Jesus and to fulfill the calling that He placed on your life from your Mother's womb.

Give in to sin and you'll never know it! You will miss His Best completely! You will get the Devil's Worst! And that is a Promise!

Let's look into the Scriptures and see how the Bible depicts the man or woman who practices and excuses sin.

You will find these characteristics - in some measure - in every person who is involved in sinful activity. "...and there is no respect of persons"(Colossians 3:25).

1. Darkened In Understanding

Ephesians 4:18 - "Having the understanding darkened..."

A man's understanding becomes darkened or debased by the indulgence in sin. His mental powers are severely weakened and he becomes unfit for high intellectual activity. In other words, sin affects his ability to think clearly or make rational or sensible decisions.

2. Alienated From The Life Of God

Ephesians 4:18 - "Being alienated from the life of God..."

God is the author and source of life found in the regenerate. That which is found in the unregenerate is so much unlike Him and not worthy of His approval. It is a state whereby the sinner despises or is repulsed by everything that is spiritual or pure or has a tendency to place a restraint on his wicked passions and inclinations.

3. Ignorant Of The True God

Ephesians 4:18 - "Through the ignorance that is in them..."

Because they are willingly ignorant - refusing to "retain God in their knowledge"(Romans 1:28) - they are totally devoid of any understanding concerning His true character or that which constitutes virtue or reality for that matter.

4. Wholly Hardened In Sin

Ephesians 4:18 - "Because of the blindness of their heart..."

Repeated acts of sin make the heart calloused and devoid of feeling. It becomes blinded to the beauty or force of the truth as well as being insensible to its demands for change. The conscience is rendered stupid and insensitive to all conviction for sin.

5. Being Past Feeling

Ephesians 4:19 - "Who being past feeling..."

This characteristic is the most striking of all. Look around you and see a world filled with people who are shameless, senseless, and wholly hardened in sin. They have lost all decent feelings concerning conduct or  character. They are utterly devoid of any remorse or shame for committing unrighteous acts. Their sense of right and wrong is totally dulled, and they couldn't care less that it is.

6. Abandoned To Sensuality

Ephesians 4:19 - "Have given themselves over unto lasciviousness..."

How would you describe these people? They are intemperate, self-indulgent, unrestrained, unclean, filthy, corrupt, and lawless. They have given themselves over to the slavery of their own lusts - practicing without limit all that they suggest.

7. Driven By An Evil Mind and Reckless Lusts

Ephesians 4:19 - "To work all uncleanness with greediness."

These people are driven. They indulge in every kind of perversion with an insatiable desire for more and more. They labor in their sin to the utmost extent - making it their work or business while treating it as a career. They stop at nothing and leave nothing to be desired.

After reading this message, do you still want to make excuses for your sin?
Do you still think that God is winking at your acts of ungodliness?
Are you yet blinded by the devil to think that sin is not affecting your life or the lives of those close to you?

Sin will take you further than you want to go and eventually send your soul to a Devil's Hell.
Never forget that!

God said - "For the wages of sin is death..."(Romans 6:23)

He wasn't kidding either!

May God Bless His Word.
Connie
