Mrs. Leta E. Barclay Leta Ethel Barclay, daughter of G.B. and Arminda Williams, was born September 30, 1894 at Long Lave, Missouri. She departed this life at her home in Buffalo, Missouri on December 11, 1977 at the age of 83 years, two months and 11 days, after and illness of four months. She was united in marriage to Oscar M. Scott on May 12, 1917, and to this union was born three daughters. Oscar preceded her in death on October 12, 1928. She professed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Freewill Baptist Church at Benton Branch and remained a member there until her death. She was united in marriage to Clarence Barclay on February 8, 1930. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1976 also her father, mother, one sister, and one step-son, James Barclay. She leaves in her passing three daughters, Gladys Bonner of Springfield, Mo., Genevieve Vandawalker of Buffalo, Mo., and Noma Montgomery of Buffalo, Mo., one daughter-in-law, Kathryn Barclay, of Springfield, Mo.; three brothers, Clyde and Frank Williams of Emporia, Kansas, and Ray Williams of Buffalo, Mo.; four sisters. May Wing of Emporia, Kansas, Leah Bennett of Long Lane, Enole Bell Culverhouse of Richmond, Washington, and Ruth Scott of St. Louis, Mo.; and also nine grandchildren and ten great-grand-children; several nieces and nephews; a dear friend, Hubert Wilson; and a host of other relatives and friends. Leta led a good Christian life and was a good friend and neighbor to all who knew her. She loved her home, her family and especially her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 14, 1977 at 2.p.m. in the Montgomery Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Harold Mayes officiating. Music was by Vernon and Jo Ann Viets who sand, "I won’t Have To Cross Jordan Alone" and "Rock of Ages." Escorts were Mack Bradley, Murrell Indermuchle, Theo. G. Scott, Claude Slack, Paul Slack and W. J. Smithpeter. Honorary escorts were: Walter Bradley and Lester Slack. Interment was in Gardens of Memory Cemetery under direction of Montgomery Funeral Home of Buffalo, Mo.
