From the Buffalo Reflex
Thursday, April 7, 1932

Barbara Margaret Bennett, wife of Abiga Bennett, was born in Memphis, Tenn., July 31, 1843, and departed this life April 3, 1932, being at the time of her death 88 years, 8 mnths and 3 days old.  She came with her parents to this country at the age of two years and has made this her home ever since.  Her husband preceded her in death many years ago (1897).  She was the mother of four children.  One daughter, Mrs. John Blackwell, preceded her in death during the great World War.  Two of her children were with her during her sickness, Mrs. Nancy Bennett and William Sweaney.  One daughter, Mrs. Rachel Gann, of Marshall, Mo., was unable to be with her on account of poor health.

Aunt Babe, as she was better known, fell last June the 18th and broke her hip and has been confined to her bed ever since.  Although she was 88 years old and lay almost ten months she bore her suffering with patience and often told her loved ones that she was ready to go when her master called.  She professed faith in Christ in her early life and was one of the last members of the old Methodist Church at Lone Rock.  In 1925 when the Christian Church was organized at Windyville, she placed her membership there where it remained until her death.

She was not only a mother to her own children but to five step-children and two of her sister's children and all of her grandchildren.  She could tell many interesting things about her early life in this country.

She leaves to grieve her departure the abova named children, 21 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren, a niece, Mrs. U.S. Jennings, of Picher, Okla., and 5 nephews and many other relatives and friends.  Funeral services were conducted at Lone Rock Tuesday morning at ten o'clock by Rev. V.R. Walker.  Interment followed at that place under direction of L.B. Jones.
