I have been asking my mom question over and over (not all at once), trying to jog her memories of past family and visits that we had as a child.

Last night I suddenly remembered that as a child of about 10 dad had moved us from California to Missouri and then to Minnesota.  With this memory I had to ask where in Missouri that we lived and it turns out that for a short time we lived in Buffalo, Dallas, Missouri.

I don't have many memories of life there, it was such a short time.   What I do remember is that we met a man who was some kind of cousin of dad's.  I remember a nice man who insisted that we call him Uncle Tom, and his very nice wife.  I cannot remember her name, but I do remember she was a wonderful cook.  The house had the nicest kitchen, they smoked bacon in a little house behind the big house, she gathered her eggs from the nest and had us go with her.  I remember sitting at huge (well remember I was a kid), table with what seemed like enough food to feed a whole army and it tasted wonderful.

My mom cannot remember so well anymore, so my questions just get I don't remember answers.  She did remember the Buffalo name which is great for me, a part of my own personal history come home.  I just wish she could remember street names and family names of the people we met.

Anyway, I was so excited over this little piece of information that I had to put it down somewhere.  A small piece and not related to most stuff but to me it is a gold mine.

Thanks for listening.

Mary
