Rachel Lavina Elizabeth (Phillips) Haney
Rachel Lavina Elizabeth Haney was the daughter of George and Jane Phillips and was born Aug. 16, 1855, near Brice, Laclede Co., Mo., and departed this life Nov. 17, 1941, at her home west of Long Lane. She was 86 years, 3 months and 1 day old.
She married Wm. Howard at the age 19. Three children were born to this union. Two of them preceded her in death. Her husband also passed away some fifty years ago. Surviving her of this union is her son Edward of the home.
A few years later she married James Thompson Haney. To them four children were born. A son, George, passed away after he grew to manhood. The other surviving children are Will Haney of the home, Mrs. John Jasper of Buffalo and Mrs. Charley Junkins of Long Lane.
Mrs. Haney professed a hope in Christ at an early age and for a number of years was a member of the Benton Branch church, later moving her membership to the Free Will Baptist church at Cedar Ridge.
She was a loving mother, a good neighbor and a faithful worker. She had been in failing health for about five years, being confined to her bed for seven months, but bore her suffering without complaints.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Joe Burton at Cedar Ridge at 11 a.m.
