Elisa Franklin Hill, daughter of William and Mary Slack, was born June 5,
1855, in Virginia, and died March 20, 1948, at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Lizza Wilson, at Buffalo, Mo.  She was 92 years, 9 months, and 15
days of age. At the age of 3 or 4 years she came to Dallas County in an
ox wagon with her parents and has made her home in Dallas County, since
that time.  November 1 8, 1870, she was united in marriage to Jim Brent
Franklin and to them were born 7 daughters and 4 sons.  Her husband, 4
daughters, and 2 sons preceded her in death.  The surviving children are:
Mrs. Liz Wilson, Buffalo, Mo.; Mrs. Mary Swift, Long Lane, Mo.; Mrs. Tina
Weeks, Long Beach, Calif.; Will Franklin , Windyville; and John Franklin,
Lebanon, Mo.; and one stepdaughter, Mrs. George Deckard of California.
Others survivors include: 22 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 7
great great grandchildren, and many other relatives.
On December 27, 1900, she was united in marriage with to W. H. Hill, who
passed away about 24 years ago.  About 56 years ago she was converted and
baptized and joined the Free Will Baptist Church at Mt. Zion.  She was a
good mother, grandmother, neighbor, and friend.  She lived a good
Christian life and was always ready to help anyone in time of need.  She
will be sadly missed by her family and friends.  Funeral services were
conducted by Eld. Lester Slack, Monday, March 22, at 2 p.m. at Benton
Branch.  Burial followed in the Benton Branch Cemetery under the
direction of Montogomery-Vangham Funeral Home.
