Lucinda Hill
The subject of this sketch was born in east Tennessee Oct. 18, 1821 and died July 5, 1908, aged 86 years, 8 months and 17 days.
She came to Missouri with her parents, Abram and Sarah Edmisson, in 1833. Was married to Alexander Hill in July 1839. To this union were born 17 children, 12 girls and 5 boys, eleven of whom, with her husband , preceded her in death. She and husband settled on a farm on Doozenberry Creek in 1840 where she continued to live until the last 5 yrs, during which time she made her home with her son, Washington Hill. She united with the Baptist Church at Mt. Pleasant in 1869 and until her death lived a faithful Christian life. Her remains were laid to rest in the family burying ground Monday afternoon in the presence of one of the largest crowds ever assembled on a like occasion in the county.
