Obituary
The subject of this sketch, Washington Hill, was born in Dallas County,
Mo., Jan. 23, 1845, and died at his home eight miles southeast of Buffalo
June 20, 1918, age 73 years, 6 months and 28 days.
October 23, 1865 he was married to Amanda Hill.  To this union were born
six children, 3 boys and 3 girls.  Four of the children and their mother
preceded him in down the valley.  October 15, 1876 he was married to
Nancy Breshears.  Seven children were born of this union, all girls and
all survive and were present at t he end.  Mrs. Hill died in 1908.
In May 1901 he united with the Free Baptist church at Mt. Zion, and lived
a faithful christian life till death. He spent all his life in the Dallas
county and all but 5 years within half a mile of where he was born and
buried.  Interment in the Hill Cemetery.  Names and addresses of the
children follow: W.C. Hill, Mrs. Lydia Gaunt, Mrs. Francis Triplett, and
Mrs. Rosa Christian all of Long Lane, Mo., Mrs. Stella Harrel of Kansas
City; Mrs. Bettie Dean of Phillipsburg and Mrs. Alta Blankenship of
Buffalo.
He enlisted in the army in 1863 and served 86 days.  Had a discharge of
disability.  He never received a pension.
