Joseph Smith was born March 12, 1800 in Ky.  He married Mary Fryman, March 18, 1822 in Harrison County, KY, daughter of George and Margaret (Snapp) Fryman.  Mary was born in 1803 in KY, Joseph and Mary had seven (known) children.  All seven children were born in Ohio.  In 1850, Joseph and his family were living in Richland County, Illinois.  Joseph died September 18, 1859 from being struck by lightning.  He is buried in Greenhill Cemetery.  Mary raised her family.  She never remarried.  Mary died December 12, 1882 in Richland County, Illinois.  She is buried in Greenhill Cemetery.

Joseph and Mary's children:

Joseph & Mary oldest known child was Louisa.  Louisa married William Rice, February 15, 1848 in Richland County, Illinois.

Lucinda Smith was born November 10, 1828.  I have found census showing that Lucinda was born in Tennessee and Ohio!  Lucinda married Absolem Brown, December 23, 1849 in Richland County, Illinois. 

America Smith was born in 1830.  She married Ward Russell.  In the mid 1860's Ward and his family moved from Richland County, Illinois to Dallas County, Missouri.  America & Ward are listed in the 1870 Dallas County, Missouri Census.  In 1880, America & Ward are listed in the 1880 Williamson County, Illinois Census. 

Emaline Smith was born in 1833.  She married William McDaniel on May 21, 1853 in Richland County, Illinois.

Perry Smith was born in 1837.  He married Susan M. Huston on October 16, 1859.  Calvin ws in the Civil War, August 13, 1862 - November 1, 1864; 98 Inf. Company.

Aaron Smith was born in 1840.  He married Elizabeth (Betsy) Ann Hornick, daughter of Christopher & Rachel (Baity) Hornick, on December 25, 1859 in Richland County, Illinois.  Betsy was born in 1840 in Illinois.  Census shows that Aaron was born in Ohio, Ky, and Indiana!  Aaron and Betsy had seven children:

1. Mary E. Smith married Monroe Hill, son of Alexander and Lucinda (Edmisson) Hill.

2. Joseph Smith

3. Sarah Smith married Willliam Columbus Hill, son of George Washington & Amanda Hill.

4. Lucinda married James Grant Evans.

5. John W. Smith

6. William Henry Smith married Priscila Isadora Rush.  After the death of his first wife, Priscilla, Henry married Anna Belle (Wright) Hood.

Aaron and Betsy Smith are buried in the Hill Cemetery, Dallas County, Missouri.
