Hi all, I am stuck. My husbands pat gf, SPEED, Ernest Parker, was born in Cabool, Dallas County, Mo on 14 April 1883. He was a cook on the railroad, where he met and married PRESTON, Mabel Ann abt 1913/4 (I am thinking this marriage was closer to early 1913 as their first born (known) was born in Oregon in 1914. I am looking for any information, records, papers, anything that will verify that he was indeed there and this actually happened. I have only his children's word, at this time, of this. Ernests' father's name was Henry and do not know Henry's spouse. There is only 1 child of Ernest that is still alive. Unfortunately his memory is not very good, and does not remember very much about his grandparents. About the only thing that I was told in an interview with one of Ernests' sons while alive, was that he thought that his pat gf was born in Scotland. I am currently waiting for a copy of Ernests death certificate. Unfortunately I am unable to locate the original marriage cert. There is a story going around the family that Ernest and Mabel had to be remarried, in Oregon, due to the original was lost in a local disaster - also not verified through my research as of yet. I am asking for someone to help me tear down this brick wall. Thank you |

Hi, The Henry Speed brickwall was finally breached the other day, at least part of it has. I did find him in Scotland.. Born: SPEED, Henry Swan 10 Apr 1873 m: --?--, Mary. His parents were SPEED, James Younger and SWAN, Jane. Thanks for the hints on where to look.
I am still having trouble with the MO records for the original marriage between SPEED, Ernest Parker and PRESTON, Mabel Ann. sometime between 1912 thru 1914 (oldest son was born in OR in 1914).
Thanks
Jean |
