Alta L. McDaniel, daughter of the late Foster and Lydia Gaunt, was born September 4, 1904 at Long Lane and departed this life on July 4, at her home in Buffalo at the age of 74 years and 20 months.
She was united in marriage to Earl (Dutch) McDaniel on September 15, 1920 and to this union five children were born.  Her husband preceded her in death on July 30, 1959 and one son, Phillip Dale, died on September 26, 1928.
Survivors include two sons: Dean and Kenneth both of Buffalo; two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Claspill and Mrs. Helen Bliss, both of Long Lane; 21 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Gaunt of Springfield and Clarence Gaunt of Elkand; four sisters: Penny Richerson of Springfield, Anna Gann of Kansas City, Jewell Rose of Kansas City, Kansas and Daisy Andrews of Santa Paula, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one grandson, one brother, three sisters, adn her companion.
Mrs. McDaniel was converted in her early childhood and later joined the Buffalo Free Will Baptist Chuarch and was a faithful servant until  the time of her death.
She and her husband farmed near Long Lane until his death and then she moved to Buffalo, having spent her entire life in Dallas County, she has many friends and relatives who will remember and miss her very much.
The love and kindness that Alta showed her family and friends will always be remembered adn be sadly missed.  We thik of the words so often stated: "It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all."  We are comforted in knowing that she is resting in the arms of God.  The family of Alta McDaniel.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 7, at 2 p.m. in  the Montgomery Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kent Tallent officiating.  Music was by Vernon, Jo Ann and Patsy Viets who sang "Mansion over the Hilltop," "Take My Hand Precious Lord" adn "What A Day That Will Be."  Casketbearers were Randy Boggs, Randall Boro, Danny Chastine, Barry Maddux, Steve Maynard adn Larry Wilson.  Interment was in Hill Cemetery under direction of the Montgomery Funeral Home of Buffalo.
