Lester Ira Slack
July 9, 1901-December 20, 1995
 
 Funeral services for Lester Slack were held December 23 in the Montgomery-Viets Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Weeks officiation.  Music was by the Viets family, who sang "One Day At A Time" and "Victory in Jesus."
 Casketbearers wee Deryl Lilley, Gregg Lilley, Jeff Lilley, Leroy Lilley, Own Smith and Todd Smith.
 Interment ws in Reynolds Cemetery under the direction of the Montogmery Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.
 Lester Ira Slack was born July 9, 1901 in Dallas County, Missouri, the son of Asbury Slack and Elsie (Franklin) Slack.  He died on December 20, 1995, at the Citizen memorial Health Car Facility in Bolivar, at the age of 94 years, five months and 11 days.
 On September 27, 1922, he was united in marriage with Dora Jane Grimett and two children were born of this union.   A son, Homer, died in 1948.
 He began as a barber, and later entered into farming.  He operated the old Chicago Store for 12 years and later worked for the Indermuchle Feed Store.  He served as Redtop Postmaster for several years and for nearly 50 years, served as minister to a number of churches.  He was a member of the Lynn Street Baptist Church in Springfield.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Homer in 1948, his wife, Dora in 1986, and his brother Paul.
 Rev. Slack is survived by his daughter, Lucille Lilley and her husband, Maynard of Buffalo, three grandchildren, Deryl Lilley of Buffalo, Sue Smith of Buffalo and Leroy Lilley of Independence, eight granchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
