The Buffalo Reflex
Thursday, December 26, 1918
We are called upon again this week to record the death of a number of residents, you, middle-aged and old, one of whom was our old soldier friend, James E. Scott.
Mr. Scott was born in Putnam County, Ind., Jan. 23, 1836, being 82 years, 10 months and 29 days old when the end came. He was a veteran of the Civil War having seen much hard service as a member of Co. G, 133rd Ind. Inft. We had no better citizen than Mr. Scott. He was twice married, his second wife being Mrs. Katie Bowser, who, with two children survive him. He is also survived by two daughters and one son by his first marriage.
Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church by V.R. Walker at 2:30 p.m. Monday and interment was in the Buffalo Cemetery under the direction of his comrades of the Grand Army of the Republic.
