Elias C. Williams

Elias C. Williams, son of George and Angeline Williams, was born June 5, 1876, six miles southeast of Buffalo.
He was united in marriage to Minnie Beck May 30, 1897.  To this union one son was born.  Lelan Williams.  One granddaughter, Mrs. Paul Gower, and one great-grandson, Bobby Gower, survive, and the devoted wife.
He had four brothers and two sisters.  Of this number three brothers and two sisters survive, namely, George W. Edward and Green Williams, Mrs. Pearl Hawley and Mary Cline.  One brother preceded him in death.
He was united with the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in 1910 in a revival meeting conducted by the Rev. Drumwright.  He later united with the First Baptist Church of Buffalo where he remained a faithful member.
Mr. and Mrs. Williams lived on a farm six miles southeast of Buffalo until the year 1914 when they moved to Buffalo and entered the hardware business.
Mr. Williams had been in the business in Buffalo continuously from 1914 to 1942 when he retired and operated and supervised his farms and stock which he prided very highly.
Mr. Williams passed away at the home in Buffalo Tuesday, October 28, 1947, at 3:30 p.m. after being in failing health for the past three years.
He is survived by the previously named relatives and a number of nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral services were conducted by Rec. E. H. Michalkowsky, assisted by Leonard Miller at the Jones & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, October 30, 1947, at 2:00 p.m.  Burial was in Oak Lawn cemetery under direction of Jones & Son.
